E-Safety

At Buildwas Academy we have our pupil’s safety at the heart of everything we do. In order to keep our pupils safe we educate them on how to keep themselves safer and some of the dangers they can come across in everyday life. Technology is constantly changing and is a pivotal part of life. We feel it is essential to show children and their parents’ how to safeguard themselves whilst using this fantastic learning resource.

In September 2018, the NSPCC delivered their ‘Speak out. Stay safe’ programme’ to our students. We have some handy guides for parents to help support this message at home:

As a Trust, we have regular training sessions on E Safety. Here are the slides from our latest training: Slides From Online Safety Training Feb 22

Childline suggest the use of conversation starters: Conversation starter ideas:

    1. Ask your children to tell you about the sites they like to visit and what they enjoy doing online.
    2. Ask them about how they stay safe online. What tips do they have for you, and where did they learn them? What is OK and not OK to share?
    3. Ask them if they know where to go for help, where to find the safety advice, privacy settings and how to report or block on the services they use.
    4. Encourage them to help. Perhaps they can show you how to do something better online or they might have a friend who would benefit from their help and support.
    5. Think about how you use the internet as a family. What could you do to get more out of the internet together and further enjoy your lives online?
